"Mom"

Well I guess my little girl is growing up - the other day she came to me and said:

Emma: "Mom"
Me: "yes, emma"
E: "I have to start calling you mom now...."
M: "Why is that?"
E: "I have always called you mommy and that is so babyish".
M: "Oh, okay!"

Secretly I wanted to cry - its the start of my little girl becoming a big girl....she doesn't want to call me mommy anymore. Pretty soon she will be spending more and more time with her friends.....sleepovers and all that jazz. I guess its just a part of parenthood - and letting go - but I am not sure if I am ready yet! To me, she will always be my first born, my little sweetie....and I guess this conversation just made me realize how big she is getting......(it might be the post pregnancy hormones that made it even worse!!!!). Emma you are such a joy and you can call me anything you want - but I will always be your mommy........I love you!
